A Letter to Our Church Family

    Dear Island Church Family,

Behind every number in this mid-year financial report are people, ministry, and opportunities to advance the gospel. Thank you for giving faithfully and investing in the work God has entrusted to The Island Church.

This report reflects a significant season in our church's story. January through May was part of the transition season leading up to Pastor Fred's retirement announcement in April, which led to my installation as your pastor. We are grateful for Pastor Fred's years of faithful leadership and for the generosity, prayers, and commitment of our church family throughout this season. Your faithfulness has helped carry forward the ministry of Jesus Christ as we honor that foundation and embrace the work ahead.

We will follow this report with a year-end report that offers a fuller picture of this year's ministry. Our goal is to publish an update every 6 months to keep our church membership updated on our financial stewardship. Our next report will include our 11-acre land acquisition, new staff additions, the number of people who have come to faith in Christ throughout the year, the number of new visitors who took next-steps and many more exciting metrics that tell a story of God's faithfulness to us.

Your giving is making disciples, advancing the gospel, and helping more people hear the good news of eternal life in Jesus Christ. Its impact reaches beyond what a financial statement can measure. Through your generosity, people are being taught God's Word, families are being strengthened, and lives are being changed by the gospel.

As we move forward in faith, I ask every member of our church family to make faithful giving a consistent priority. Scripture calls us to give willingly, generously and cheerfully: "God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). If you already give regularly, thank you—and I encourage you to remain steadfast. If you have yet to begin, make this the season you take that step of faith. Prayerfully consider what God has entrusted to you and how you can use it to support His work.

We take seriously our responsibility to steward these gifts with integrity and purpose. Together, let's give faithfully, pray boldly, and work wholeheartedly so that more people will know Christ and follow Him.

Thank you for your trust, your generosity, and your partnership in the gospel. It is an honor to serve as your pastor.

    With gratitude and expectation,

    Matt Baker

    Discipleship

    Small Groups: Faith Lived Together

Small Groups are the heart of how discipleship happens. In the first six months of 2026, we experienced discipleship through mens and womens Bible Study small groups, community groups, and common interest groups.

Small Groups are where the Bible intersects with everyday life—where people pray together, ask honest questions, and learn how to follow Jesus in practical and Biblical ways.

    Island Kids: Growing in God

Island Kids is designed as a place where kids can gather together to grow in God so they can go and give God's love to others. The first six months of 2026, Island Kids learned about how to grow in God by studying Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. They learned to avoid the traps of the devil so they can live free from the entanglement of sin, and they memorized The Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:2-12.

Island Babies continues to be a place where the littlest members of The Island Church can know that God loves them, created them, and that they can have a relationship with God.

At The Island Church, we believe no child is too young or too small to know and love God.

    Student Ministry

Island Youth: Owning Their Faith in Jesus

Island Youth continues to be a place where middle and high school students can come, build friendships, grow in their faith, and discover what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. We love seeing how God is moving in the lives of our students.

This summer we took 58 students and leaders to Youth Camp. We sent 11 students and leaders on the NYC missions trip with Alabama Youth Ministry. These events are an incredible opportunity for students to connect with other churches from across Alabama, worship Jesus together, grow deeper in their faith, and make lasting friendships.

There is truly nothing like seeing students come together to know and worship Jesus!

    Community Outreach

    Island Mobile Food Pantry

A significant part of ministry at The Island Church is outreach to our community. We desire to meet the needs of those in our community and Island Mobile Food Pantry is a major way we are able to accomplish this task.

Each week we have volunteers picking up groceries from Target and Dollar General through our Food Rescue team. That food is then distributed at our Island Mobile Food Pantry events. From January to June, we were able to donate 2,000 lbs of snacks to Magnolia Elementary in Foley. We were also able to donate 2,000 lbs of snacks to Gulf Shores High School band. Feeding the hungry has been an act of the Church since its beginning. We are so grateful to be able to help our community with such a vital need.

    Missions

Kingdom Builders: Missions Here & Abroad

Kingdom Builders is the missions ministry of The Island Church. Through Kingdom Builders, we are able to meet real needs for missionaries in our country and around the world. Because of your partnership in giving, we are able to support 50 missionaries and various missions organizations!

We obey God when we make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey God.
